Participants will explore the concept of power and control, which provides the context for domestic abuse, at a societal level and within the home. We will discuss how power and control intersects with race, religion, gender, sexuality and disability, and may impact on survivors’ experiences of abuse and seeking help. The webinar will provide an overview of the provision and protection for survivors, as well as specialist support services that provide advocacy for survivors and guidance for professionals. Bio: Marianne is an experienced Relationships and Sex Educator for young people and has spent the past 3 years supporting homeless young people who are experiencing domestic and sexual abuse. Marianne draws on her experiences from the Domestic Abuse sector, her ISVA training and Feminist Legal Theory studies to examine gender-based violence through an intersectional lens. Cancellations: In the event of cancellation of a webinar by the facilitators, we will endeavour to inform all participants at least two weeks before the course is due to take place, although please be aware that this is not always possible. In such an event, all course fees paid will be reimbursed in full. In the event that dates have to be changed by the facilitators, participants may request a full refund if the new dates are not convenient. Refunds: Webinar spaces are limited so refunds will only be made if a written notification is received more than four weeks before the workshop date. For bookings cancelled four weeks or less before the event, no refund will be made other than in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the webinar facilitators. No refund will be made for non-attendance.
